What has been the highlight of your time at ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ so far?
I was really nervous about my accommodation and how it would be moving to a new country; however, the ResLife here has been one of the best highlights of my ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ experience. The accommodation itself is very homey, and the team make it even better. They work really had to ensure that you’re set up with roommates that you will get along with and they go out of their way to have the best events to get everyone together.
Another part of the university experience that has been great are the department lecturers and how much they genuinely care about the success of their students. They would take the time to remind us to take some time and do things we enjoy even when its stressful. They are also aways available if you’re struggling to offer additional support as appropriate; they are always on your side and not against you. Also... the scones and coffee at ³Ò³Ü³Ù³ó°ù¾±±ð’s have been a very happy mid-day snack for me on stressful days!
What is one thing you wish you knew before coming to university at ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ?
If I had to tell myself one thing before starting university, it would have been not to take myself too seriously. There is a lot of work, but you have support to help you get through when you need it and classmates to count on. I would still work hard and try my best, but I would also give myself time to do things that I enjoy and continue building on my interests.
Also, there are many resources and available tools to help you through your degree, I would try and get a head start and use the resources at the library and the student centre early rather than waiting till later when you really need them and are struggling to find time. Always know what’s available and how you can access it.
What is your favourite thing about being an ambassador for ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ?
I am happy that I get to share my experience with incoming students; I wish I had gotten into contact with Student Ambassadors before coming to the university because I would have had more answers to my many questions. Now I get to help incoming students and be a point of contact form firsthand experience.
